Bro. Brown's Message PDF Print E-mail

A few years ago in a small farming community near Rome, Maine, a young man named Lloyd Bachelder found himself in an unenviable position. He was pinned under a tractor. While pinned under the tractor, young Lloyd did the only thing that he could do, he yelled desperately for help. Even though it was only a short period of time before help arrived, to young Lloyd it seemed like an eternity. Upon hearing the screams of Lloyd, a young teenager, named Arthur Hinkley, came to help. Upon arriving at the scene, young Arthur knew immediately the one thing that Lloyd needed most. Lloyd needed to be delivered from his predica-ment. Though Arthur was a young man and by no means a very strong man, the urgent appeal for deliverance from Lloyd made Arthur try to do what seemed to be impossible. Arthur took a firm hold on the wheel of that tractor and began to try to lift the heavy load. Arthur was somehow able to lift the heavy weight of the tractor just enough to deliver Lloyd from this grave situation.

This story should resonate with us since this is our plight in the world in which we live. There are many things that we need, but the most important need we have is to be delivered from our sins. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23, and we have earned the wages of this sin, that is death, Ro-mans 6:23. Since our sin leads us to death, the most important thing that we need is the deliverance from these sins. We should constantly be pleading for this de-liverance. Isn't it wonderful that God views us as sheep needing a Shepherd, as the oppressed needing a Deliverer, and as the lost in need of a Savior. God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to be our deliverer to deliver us from the predicament of sin. Take a good look at what Paul says in Romans 5:8-11, "But God demon-strates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation." Thank God for the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
